Windridge Winery is located in Darnestown, MD. There are over 3 acres of vineyards and they overlook Seneca Creek State Park. There are (2) tasting areas and lots of outdoor space. If you want to go indoors, reservations are a must. We prefer indoors because we’re old. Well, I am. He doesn’t like to be called old.

Cab Franc is very dry; lots of tannins. Not as spicy as we like

2019 Chambourcin – Per Windridge it’s medium bodied and packed with vibrant fruit. Raspberry strawberries w pleasing mineralogy. I love the nose on this. Strawberries are very strong. Tart mouth feel ( for me). Per kelly, sweet fruit and very smooth

2019 Encampment – Red blend; black currant Mediterranean herbs and tobacco leaf accompanied by fine ripe tannens. Per kelly , Licorice and chocolate. Very dry. I’m not sure I’m crazy about this. Kelly is too sure yet. He said it really doesn’t have a nose

2018 Seneca – Red blend, aged in French oak for 18 months. Full bodied with notes of cherry, blackberry and leather. Kelly’s gonna jump all over that leather isn’t he. I know this is strange, But Kelly and I both feel the nose smells like a new house. He said it’s new leather that hasn’t been set on or used. It’s not a bad wine. But nothing to write home about
