Black Ankle was the first winery we went to as a couple. Actually, we were going to Linganore (we had no idea), but they had some festival and all we wanted to do was drink wine and get to know each other. Black Ankle was a perfect fit. The tasting room was pretty small and they had a very small patio out back. Nevertheless, we were blown away. Everyone was lovely and we enjoyed the wines immensely. We became members. I want to say that this was back in 2010. Fast forward several years and now they have a huge patio and the tasting room has been redone and is perfect for every season. Trouble was, the wines remained the same; Passagiato (which I’ll discuss) and Rolling Hills. We eventually quit only because we got bored.
