We became members of this place couple years ago and I can’t believe I didn’t write anything about it. The ambience is really really nice. Acres and acres of places to sit, they have a farm out back for their own flowers, and lots of vineyards. We like to come here and sit by a fire pit. I like the mulled wine and we opened a bottle of wine and sit around.
Let’s start w the chambourcin. We usually love this grape finding it an easy drinking wine full of flavor. Rockland Farms starts with the fermentation with a whole grape. After one percent after 1% alcohol it’s been sent through the normal process of crushing fermenting etc. Rockland takes it through one more process and it becomes somewhat fizzy. We open this bottle took a sip and closed it. Our thought is carbonation should never be in wine.
Sandstone – a mix between merlot and cab franc. Kelly really likes this. It is a very smooth drinking wine and has a very lovely taste. But frankly I think it’s just a nice wine. It Doesn’t have the space and the extra umph that I like
That’s all for today since that is all we are having
The people here are really super nice.
K, here’s an opinion regarding the chambourcin. It’s almost as if the owner/winemaker is appealing to sales rather than the grape. It’s as If he/she wants to make it so that it’s a big seller with the younger crowd hence the sweetness and the fizz. I definitely prefer they paid more attention to the grape.
