Here for a pickup and decided to stay for a quick tasting since we haven’t written anything recently
2019 sunset red – raspberry, strawberry, dried leaves. I am telling the truth. Their description is dried leaves. I know Kelly is going to go crazy on this because what kind of leaves? Are they from an elm tree? A poplar? Love the nose. picking up a little bit of the strawberry. Little tart. Earthy for Kelly. He’s actually saying wet oak leaves. Or is it aspen?
It’s a decent wine but I’m not feeling it.
2019 cab franc – red cherry, cinnamon, toast.
Nose is very smooth. If you can smell velvet, this is it. I got dark cheery.
This is a little mellow to the other cab francs we’ve tasted. Not as peppery.
2019 petit Verdot – plum, fig, tobacco finish
Definitely got the tobacco on the nose. Also the fig but I have to admit I was searching for it.
Per Kelly, it has a little bite but not peppery. Little bolder. He’s getting the plum. He’s going to go f’ing crazy when I read him the description.
2019 Tannat – blackberry, violet, nutmeg. Ok, let’s see if mr smarty pants can pick out the violet!
I definitely got the violet on the nose. Kelly is saying that it’s definitely more peppery. White pepper. Anise, licorice. He almost had it w the nutmeg. We’ll give it to him. It’s a great winter wine.
Dusk is still amazing
